Free Anti-Virus Service |
For a free scan of your system go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
The scan available above will search your PC for viruses and Autofix but you will still need to invest in anti-virus Software. If you want to stay free from virus infection, you may wish to consider the following three anti-virus programmes:
Whichever you choose, go on line and update your anti-virus files at
least every fourteen days and set your scan to All Files. This prevents you
loading virus-infected information from floppy discs, CD ROMs or via the Internet
and email. If an alert pops up during download of email choose delete. This will delete the virus and leave the email untouched as virus
information is usually stored in attachments and runs when you open them. As a general
rule, if you don't know the sender, don't open the attachment.
If you receive a virus from a friend then email the item back
to them by choosing forward with a note to tell them they have a virus. This will enable them to clean their PC. Viruses spread in secret
by infecting your address book and piggy backing on any old file when you
send other emails. You may not realise it is happening.
When you are sent a virus, choose tools in your email
programme and then choose block sender. This stops the sender repeating the
malicious act again. Do not do this to a normal contact that has sent
a virus by mistake or you will permanently block them from contacting
you.
